1. What is "token"? And why do I get a "token limit exceeded"?
TOKEN: You can think of tokens as pieces of words used for natural language processing. For English text, 1 token is approximately 4 characters or 0.75 words. For Chinese, 1 token is approximately 0.5 character.
TOKEN LIMIT EXCEEDED: To prevent abuse, we've set a HARD token limit and a SOFT token limit on the files you upload.
HARD LIMIT: no page in your file can contain more than 14,000 tokens.
SOFT LIMIT: only 10 pages in your file can contain more than 10,000 tokens.
2. How to add a new website to the website whitelist?

3. How to ask questions about specific content?
Select the tables or texts, click the “ChatDOC” button next to it, enter your questions, and ChatDOC will explain, analyze, or summarize this selected content for you.
PS. Asking questions about “Page N” of the PDF is not supported.
4. Dose ChatDOC support GPT-4?
Yes. Users can purchase GPT-4 question packages to send GPT-4 messages(Pro users only for the time being).
5. Can ChatDOC automatically import and parse PDF files from a website?
- ChatDOC currently supports the automatic import and parsing of PDFs from arxiv.org.
- How to operate: when a user prefixes 'chat' to the domain name of a paper on arxiv.org, the PDF is automatically imported into ChatDOC for parsing (Requires ChatDOC login).
- We will further broaden our support to encompass additional domain names.
6. Does ChatDOC have browser extensions?
Yes. You can enjoy a seamless app experience on Chrome and Edge extensions.
7. Does ChatDOC support custom models?
Yes! Now users can chat with files based on their custom models!

8. Everything you want to know about ChatDOC PRO
8.1 Does ChatDOC have a free version?
Yes, you can sign up for a free ChatDOC account. In the free plan, you can upload up to 2 files per 24hrs and 10 files in total with a limit of 20 pages per file at most. To enjoy more features and benefits, we sincerely recommend you to upgrade to ChatDOC Pro.
8.2 What can I benefit from Pro Plan?
- Compared to the free version, with Pro Plan, you have more flexible upload limits and capacity to boost your file reading:
- Upload More: 300 files / 30 days
- Upload Larger File: No PDF page limit / file
- Ask More: 300 questions / 24 hours
- .doc/docx, markdown, epub, txt, scanned files, website support: 300k tokens / file
- OCR (for scanned pages) support: 500 OCR pages / 30 days
- Multi-Doc Chat: upload a folder of files and chat with all the files or the partial files simultaneously. No file limit within the collection.
- Formula recognition support: select and recognize formulas along with texts/tables to ask more comprehensive questions.
- GPT-4o support: buy quota to get enhanced GPT-4o responses.
- Chat with images: recognize and analyze images with GPT-4o.
8.3 Is there any special pricing for Pro Plan now?
YES!
- Monthly Pro Plan:
- Auto-renewal price: $8.99 for 30 days. Original price: $16.99 for 30 days.
- Annual Pro Plan:
- Auto-renewal price: $89.9 for 360 days. Original price: $169.9 for 360 days.
8.4 Which payment methods do you support?
Now we accept Visa, PayPal, Ali Pay and WeChat Pay.
8.5 What if the current Pro/Basic Plan is still not enough to meet my needs?
Option 1:
You can choose to add an extra package beyond the pro plan catering to your greater needs. The extra package includes:
- File package: $0.29/per file, valid within 90 days.
- Page package: $0.06/per page, valid within 90 days.
- OCR Page package: $0.05/per page, valid within 90 days.
Option 2:
We’re offering API services for an early-bird price as below:
- PDF & Question Packages: Elite, Basic and Lite versions
- Question Package.
- PDF Pages Packages: Elite, Basic and Lite versions.
8.6 How can I renew my subscription?
Now we support PayPal auto-renewal.
1.Click "Subscription" in the dropdown menu under your ChatDOC avatar.
2.Click "Subscribe", then you will automatically renew the subscription to continuously enjoy our value-added service.
8.7 Why was I charged again in my current billing period after subscribing for auto-renewal?
If you enable auto-renewal for your existing PayPal Pro subscription, you will be charged for the next billing period to complete the renewal service signing. This charge extends your current subscription for an additional 30 days.
If you prefer not to be charged in advance, you can refer to the "How can I request a refund?". You can subscribe again after your current billing period expires.
8.8 How do I cancel my subscription?
We understand that some users might be dissatisfied with ChatDOC Pro. In such cases, we encourage you to provide feedback and cancel your plan if necessary.

3.Click "OK" in the pop-up window, then your cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing cycle.
To avoid being charged for your next billing period, please cancel your subscription at least 24 hours before your next billing date.
8.9 How can I request a refund?
You are eligible to request a refund within 7 days of purchase. We know that occasionally a product may not meet your expectations, and we're here to help. If you want to receive a refund, please send the following information:
- The email address used for registering and purchasing ChatDOC Pro plan.
- Screenshots of the payment channel used for purchasing ChatDOC Pro plan, such as PayPal or Alipay payment screenshots.
- Please ensure that your refund request is made within 7 days of your purchase and that you have not used the ChatDOC Pro plan.
- Any extra relevant information.

8.10 Why is my ChatDOC Pro subscription not appearing?
Some users have reported paying for Pro but do not see their new subscription appear in ChatDOC. We are aware of this issue and are working to ensure all affected accounts are restored to the correct state.

8.11 Why did my subscription purchase/renewal transaction fail?
Try these troubleshooting steps to resolve your payment issue:
- Clear your browser's cache and cookies, then try the transaction again.
- If the problem persists, contact your bank to check if there is an issue with your account or if they are blocking the transaction for security reasons.

8.12 Why was my credit card declined?
If your credit card is declined while paying for subscription, please double-check your card information, ensure you have sufficient funds, and verify your billing address. Any incorrect information can lead to a declined transaction. If your issue persists, try using an alternate payment method or contact your bank or card provider to understand how the transaction can be completed.
8.13 Where can I find my invoice?
The current version doesn't support downloading invoices for the time being. Users who subscribe in this version can download the invoice for this subscription in the next release.
9. Does ChatDOC provide API service?
YES!
Our ChatDOC API enables you:
- Extract accurate data from PDF/Word files, generate AI responses to any question.
- Show the original files alongside the chatbot.
- Trace AI responses to specific document sections.
To access full API functionality, you need both the document pages package and the questions package. For the time being, we’re offering API package services for an early-bird price as below:
